policeman shoots police boss to death in Bauchi

A mobile policeman in Bauchi state shot dead his superior and former ADC to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Superintendent of Police, Chris Eza (pictured above), yesterday February 26th in Bauchi.
According to family sources, Chris Eza had gone out to get food at an eatery along Ahmadu Bello way around 9pm when he saw some police officers on patrol. On observation, he found out that one of them, the suspect, was not properly dressed and immediately cautioned him. The junior officer, a Corporal, got angry and began to grumble for being told to dress properly.
An angry Chris felt his action was unacceptable and warned the officer that he was going to disarm him if he didn't take care. Instead of apologizing, the junior officer cocked his gun and threatened to shoot his boss.
He told Eza that if he came close to him, he would shoot. Calling his bluff, Eza moved towards the officer, who immediately opened fire. Other officers around rushed Chris to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi where he was declared dead on arrival. Until his death, he was the MOPOL 11 Commander.
The officer has since been arrested and investigations into the motive for the killing is ongoing.

Man sells his own baby for N300k(Photo)

A middle-aged palm tree harvester, George Maduabuchi, from Owerrinta in the Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State is in the police net for allegedly selling his 14-month-old son for N300,000.
The father of four was said to have connived with another suspect, Obinna Erondu, now at large, to perpetrate the act.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joshak Habila, who paraded the suspect along with other suspected criminals on Thursday, said,
“Luck ran out on Maduabuchi when the wife alerted the police on his questionable role when the baby fell ill and he took him out and did not return with him.”
But the suspect told our correspondent that he did not sell his son, but only took him to a herbalist when he took ill.
He said, “The herbalist gave me money and told me that he could not heal the baby. I therefore left the baby in the herbalist’s home.”
But his explanation was countered by his wife, Eberechi, who said he took their son, who had a cough to the said herbalist, but instead of returning with the baby, rather came back with bundles of money.

She said,
“When I demanded explanations on the whereabouts of our son, he could not offer any convincing answer.”
The wife, who is also pregnant, said she raised the alarm, which attracted neighbours who helped to arrest the husband.
The neighbours subsequently alerted the police, who picked up the husband who later led the police to the herbalist’s house at Owerrinta where the boy was recovered .

Air Force men brutalize bizman, as Dame Jonathan visits Delta(Photo)

A Warri-based businessman, Mr. Larry Otu, has called for investigation and justice into the brutality allegedly meted out on him by men of the Nigerian Air Force at the Osubi Airstrip, Warri, where security was beefed up over Dame Patience Jonathan’s visit to Delta State, yesterday.
Narrating his ordeal to Vanguard, Otu, Chief Executive Officer of LYM Consult, said he was at the airstrip to receive his technical partners from Canada when men from the Warri Air Force Unit stationed at the facility attacked him.He said:
“It happened at about 9am, when our foreign partners arrived the airport and I was there to clear them at the Immigration desk. I drove to the gates to face interrogation from the Air Force men.
“One asked if I knew the President’s wife was coming today. I said yes, but that I have come to pick my foreign partners. He asked what I do for a living; I said I own the company being visited by our technical partners and he said
‘as small as you are?’
“He said okay, find me something. I said I cannot give you anything. So he ordered me to reverse my car and leave. He said I cannot drive in.
“I reversed my car, drove back to the main road and was trekking down to go in when a team of the force men, numbering about eight, pounced on me.”
Otu said his attackers dragged him from there to a point behind their caravan office at the airport and continued the beating, kicking, punching and hitting with their guns, adding it took the intervention of his manager who approached one of the officers before the assault was halted.

He said:
“It turned out that my manager knew one of the Air Force officers at the airport. He ran in to tell him that it was his company’s chairman that was being manhandling.
“That was when the officer came and ordered them to stop and let me go. But before I was left with a battered, bloodied face, N200,000 was taken from my pocket by one of them.”
The victim called on relevant authorities to ensure justice by bringing the culprits to book.

He said:
“I know the man who started it all and I know the one that took N200,000 from my pocket. We cannot continue to live in this kind of country. Justice must be done.”
When contacted, Commanding Officer at the 61 NAF Detachment of the Nigerian Air Force, Warri, Air Commodore, A. D. Dudusola, whose men assaulted the victim, said:
“I was not present when it happened, but they said he was rude.
“Why must it be only him? That is the question that comes to mind. Others came to the airport, identified themselves properly and were allowed in.
“Nobody was touched, so he must have been rude.
“My brother, it is better to face other challenges than to face the worry that somebody came to the airport and blast himself, because it is not always written in somebody’s face. That is the truth.
“We can apologize to him later, but we had to do our job first so that somebody will not create problem for us.”

Woman Gives Birth to Baby Without Arms in Ogun State; Father Runs Away

The arrival of a baby in every home heralds joy. But this was not the case for Mr. Mudashiru Sheriffdeen of Bosun Street, Ifo in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The wife, Taiwo, was on Tuesday delivered of a baby boy who had no arms. The baby boy weighed 3.25 kilogrammes at birth and was born around 2pm at a private hospital, Majotal Medical Clinic at the Ilogbo area of Ado/Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The mother of the baby told MetroPlus that immediately she gave birth to the baby boy, her husband took to his heels on hearing that the baby was born without arms.
Expressing her sadness, she said:
“This is my first child and I do not know why I gave birth to this kind of a baby. Immediately my husband was informed that his son had deformity, he ran away and had not come to see me. He is a commercial bus driver, and we had been married now for almost two years before God decided to answer our prayers.
When I was pregnant, we took every steps that the doctor directed us to take, but we did not know why we came about this calamity.”
While pleading for assistance from well meaning Nigerians, Mrs Sheriffdeen said:
“I have been warned by both my husband and our landlord not to bring the child home. The hospital management has asked us to leave the hospital. Now, this child and I have nowhere to go, I don’t need this baby. I want government to adopt him.”

South Korea Legalizes Adultery

South Korea's Constitutional Court on Thursday struck down a 60-year-old statute outlawing adultery under which violators faced up to two years in prison. The nine-member bench ruled by seven to two that the 1953 law was unconstitutional.
"Even if adultery should be condemned as immoral, state power should not intervene in individuals' private lives," said presiding justice Park Han-Chul.
It was the fifth time the apex court had considered the constitutional legality of the legislation which had made South Korea one of the few non-Muslim countries to regard marital infidelity as a criminal act.

Anglican Primate refuses to pray for preisdent Goodluck Jonathan

goodluck-jonathan.indep_
Primate of the Orthodox Anglican Church, Nigeria, Bishop Christopher Umane, has revealed that he declined an invitation to pray for one of the leading presidential candidates so as not to offend God.
While speaking to journalists on Tuesday, February 24, in Benin City, Edo State, Umane urged President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his opponent in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to stop personalising political campaigns.
“They approached me few months ago and wanted me to be part of a group praying for one of the presidential candidates, they want to corrupt the image of the church. I asked them what about my responsibility, because I have a responsibility to all of them. ”
“In other words, in my church, I cannot tell my members to vote for A or B, what I will say is look at what they said they want to do and we are praying that God should give us a better candidate and a better candidate will come from the things they are telling us they will do.”
“I will pray that God should give the better one. If you are campaigning, give us the best manifesto, don’t say you are going to do this or that and you are not going to tell me where the money is going to come from, there are so many things they are taking for granted.”
“It is when they are bereft of ideas that they begin to personalize campaigns, they have nothing to offer us that is why they are going emotional, attacking themselves instead of issues. Somebody who wants people’s votes should be able to say I will do this and that for you and the people will have a reason to vote for you or not. They should leave name calling – this one was a thief, this one is a thief, then I ask, who has not been a thief?”

Photo of The Cleaner Who Returned N12m Found At Airport

cleanerreturn
A cleaner with one of the cleaning concessionaires at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos, has returned the sum of N12m found at the terminal.
The cleaner, Miss Josephine Agwu, who is said to be on a monthly salary of N7,800, returned the sum, which was probably left behind by a passenger at the security unit of the airport.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened on January 23, 2015, while Agwu was cleaning a toilet near the screening point of the departure area of the airport.
Speaking with some journalists at the terminal, Agwu explained that she saw a small handbag left behind by a passenger and acted on instruction that any bag left unattended to in the airport terminal must be picked and deposited with aviation security department of the airport.
She said after asking other passengers if the bag belonged to anyone of them and they all responded negatively, she picked up the bag and took it to the security where it was opened and found that it contained $27,000 and other currencies, including naira, which added up to N12m.
She, however, told journalists that a passenger on Emirates Airlines, who was later simply identified as Samuel from Anambra State claimed ownership of the bag and its contents from the aviation security after much screening.
She added: “If I had taken what doesn’t belong to me, God will punish me. I am content with my N7,800 monthly salary. It was not my money. I believe when it pleases God, He will bless the work of my hands and will make me rich.
“This is not the first time I am doing this. This is the third time in this airport. The first was in the departure area. It belonged to a Nigerian. The second was at the screening point; it belonged to a white man. Of all, only the white man rewarded me with $50, which I rejected until my colleagues prevailed on me to collect it.”
Agwu holds an Ordinary National Diploma, OND, in accounting. She also said she had worked with many airlines as casual worker in Enugu with a track record of honesty without anyone of them offering her full employment before she moved to Lagos to seek greener pastures, but instead again, got a job in the airport as a cleaner.
The Airport Manager, MMIA, Lagos, Mr. Nathaniel Auta, confirmed the report when asked by our correspondent.
He said: “It was true that a cleaner with one of the concessionaires discovered such a huge amount of money and returned it to security. It is a very good testimony for us all.”
Also confirming the development, Chief Security Officer, CSO, of the Lagos International Airport, Colonel Carl Onalo (rtd), said the lady in question must be appreciated for her honesty to encourage others.
He said management of the airport and possibly that of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, would do everything possible to celebrate her honesty at the airport

Obasanjo tore an expired party card - PDP

National Secretary of the PDP, Professor Adewale Oladipo said the PDP membership card torn by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on February 16th had long expired as it was signed by a former acting chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje who is now a chieftain in the APC.

According to Professor OLadipo, Chief Obasanjo is over 80 years old and there are certain actions people of his age take that they themselves can't explain. Prof Oladiposaid this while speaking to a group of students who came to show their solidarity for President Jonathan at the party's National secretariat in Abuja yesterday.

"Baba is over 80 and my mother is around Obasanjo’s age. When you reach that age, you do things that only you can explain. Secondly, you will see that Baba did not tear our card. He asked somebody ostensibly to do the tearing and I am assuring you that the card that was torn was not the current PDP card. The current PDP card is signed by Mu’azu and Professor Oladipo. So the card he tore was a Baraje card, which we were going to destroy anyway. So I think Baba started it. Lastly, Baba is a very intelligent man. When Baba was helping us, he knew that a lot of people could have complained that they could have voted for PDP but Baba was there. You know when a big tree exists in a big forest, smaller trees cannot grow. If that big tree leaves, 10 to 20 smaller trees will grow. In politics, one big tree has a vote, while 20 small trees have 20 votes. If you do the arithmetic, I am a scientist, I know that head or tail, it is a win win situation for PDP,” he said.

Fadesola Adedayo: Jonathan Must Go

For the sake of every Nigerian, Jonathan must go. The vast majority of the population, which is not part of the political elite, might think that the decision doesn’t concern them–“wetin concern me, nah me one do election?”; but in fact it concerns them more than any one else. When a ship is sinking, it is the 1st class cabin members who get the rowing boats – everyone else is left to sink.

Due to the globalization, the Nigerian elite have room to maneouver in ways they previously never could– the pace by which money can move around the world due to the proliferation of the internet and jet travel has accelerated the pace by which capital seeks its centres of the highest returns–in short the elite can invest/hide money in more places at a faster rate. Globalization was promised to be the tide that would lift all boats, when in fact it has mostly lifted only the yatches.

The poor should be most concerned about this turn of events because they cannot just leave the country– they have to stay here in this fetid stew that Jonathan has brewed in Nigeria. The rich can merely migrate to places where there is justice- convincing themselves that they are British/American/whatever isn’t Nigerian; when in fact they are mostly seen as wealthy interlopers by the natives of that country. Regardless of if their suit are Armani or not, they are still just niggers in a suits–fat ones at that.

The poor Nigerians are the ones that have to live in this land of injustice. In a land where they rich live above the law, the poor don’t simply live beneath the law, they are crushed under the daily weight of harassment that comes with the territory of being poor in Nigeria– harassment by police, by your oga, by the daily traffic and even by PHCN.

Jonathan hopes that the crude, blunt nature of daily Nigerian life would numb the populace to the atrocities he has committing/committed. In his attempts to keep power, he has ignored not only fundamental illness of the system but the symptoms as well. He has not only ignored widespread youth unemployment and under–education, but has failed to deal with their inevitable outcome–domestic terrorism in the form of Boko Haram. Lest we forget, this is the same man that said that he was unable to visit some parts of our nation, such is his cowardice. In his final shocking, albeit in character, act of desperation, he has postponed the elections putting our democracy in jeopardy.

Jonathan is a coward and I refuse to bow at his altar regardless of what position he occupies. He is a disgrace to Nigeria and the idea of democracy. The Nigerian Nero has laughed enough while Rome has burnt.

Enough is enough. Jonathan must go.

Pastor's wife in America fined for praying too loudly

After two court dates and paying $150 in fines for "unnecessary noise", Martha Nagbe isn't giving up sharing her faith.
"I can't stop,” said Nagbe. “I'm trusting God."
Nagbe said police told her to stop praying downtown and in area neighborhoods. She moved from Liberia to this country for opportunity, but feels that she's being denied her rights.
"In the United States it's one nation under God."
In one hand Nagbe carries her bible, singing versus of praise throughout the streets. Lisbon's police chief told us Nagbe's loud praying is "disturbing the peace."
"I mean, we all need prayers and great she's out there praying for all of us, but it's just the volume of her voice,” said Police Chief Jeanette Persons. “It's not that she just walks by, but she will stand out there for a lengthy period of time."
But, the chief adds she's only seen Nagbe pray outside during daylight hours.
"For them to antagonize her, to make her look like a bad person, sometimes makes me angry,” said Pastor Juwle Nagbe. “Somebody should give her the respect that she deserves."
Police may see Nagbe as an obstacle that can't be quieted. But, she intends to carry out her faith by making joyful noise.
Chief Persons said if Nagbe continues to pray loudly in the streets, she will continue to get fined. But, Chief Persons also comments if Nagbe lowered her voice the problems would go away.

Terrorists disguised as women apprehended in Baga[Photos]

The Nigerian military released a statement today saying that during their search of Baga, Borno state following their recapture of the city, they found and arrested some terrorists dressed as women.
"The cordon and search in Baga has revealed some terrorists disguising as women.  The searches are also yielding more discoveries of arms especially bombs hidden in various locations, especially Baga town. Apart from those captured in the course of fighting, many arrests of terrorists hiding in the town are being made and troops are still busy interrogating the suspects.
Meanwhile, in furtherance of the mission to clear terrorists from all their enclaves by the military, the Nigerian Air Force has stepped up its air bombardment of identified targets in Gwoza, Bama and Sambisa forest, preparatory to other phases of the mission. The air strikes have been highly successful as they achieved the aims, hitting vital targets with required precision.  Terrorists are now in disarray as they scamper to escape from the impact of air bombardment of their locations in the forest.Having successfully liberated Baga where the terrorists have been marauding, the troops’ attention has now been focused on consolidation of the security of the area to pave way for return of citizens.

I’ve been sleeping with my cousin for the past year and now we want to tell our family

parnerhelp
I guess I should start by specifying that we’re not first cousins, but I don’t know if we qualify as second cousins or not. His mother and my grandfather are brother and sister, in a family where there are as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings as trees in a forest.
The two of them are separated by fifteen years, six siblings, and enough difference in upbringing that they would often talk about how they felt more like uncle and niece than brother and sister. I think that their disparity in childhood is probably a lot of the reason why we felt it was okay to do at first, because it was barely even like they were siblings.
We were so used to the big family reunions where everyone would get lost in the mix, and there were always new babies being born and new marriages and new extensions to the family tree — it was easy to pretend like we didn’t know what the situation was.
But we know, and since we first kissed outside a bar just over a year ago (on a night that was more about having shots and finding excuses to get close to each other than it was about welcoming him to Austin), we have been a couple. We are very private about our relationship — no PDA, only a few select friends know, never any evidence or anything on Facebook — but it’s a huge part of both of our lives.

Chief Zebrudaya Testifies At Synagogue Church[Photos]

Chief Zebrudaya has testified in the Synagogue Church of All Nations headed by
Pastor T.B Joshua, saying they ran there for help when his younger brother’s wife was kidnapped and God heard their prayers in one day.
According to him after three days that some certain men kidnapped the wife of his younger brother, they called and demanded for the sum of N150m for ransom. They couldn’t afford it and the family thought it was too outrageous, so then ran to Synagogue church and they were giving anointing water to go and spray on a photograph at home. He said they sprayed it on the photo of the woman and at exactly 12 midnight, they received a call that she has been freed. That was how she came back home. So I thought we should come and testify, he said.More pics after cut....

Woman Pushes Husband to his Death from their Balcony in Lagos (Photo)

Residents of Adefowope Street, off Beach Road, Etegbin, in the Otto Awori Local Council Development Area of Lagos are divided over the reasons that could have made a woman to push her husband from the balcony of a one-storey building on Valentine’s Day.
It was gathered that the incident, which happened in the community, had left neighbours and residents at loss over what might have actually transpired.
It was learnt that the woman, identified as Onyinyechi, in anger pushed her husband, George, from the storey building, leading to the husband’s death.
While some residents claimed that Onyinyechi, who was a teacher in a private school in the area, was angry that her husband did not give her a Valentine’s treat on a day when most lovers made out time to celebrate each other, other residents said the couple was quarreling over a monetary issue before the incident.

'My men will kill in self defence', says number killed is immaterial'...AIG MBU

AIG Mbu reiterated his position to newsmen at the commissioning of the Olorunsogo 11 power station in Ogun state by President Jonathan last Friday
“I still stand by what I said. And what I said is very clear: that if any violent group attacks my policemen, my policemen should attack them violently. If any violent group attacks a law-abiding citizen in a bid to cause injury or cause harm, the police should repel and save that law-abiding citizen because we have the powers to do so. If hoodlums or touts decide to be lawless; carrying knives, carrying illegal firearms and shooting at my policemen, if they shoot at my policemen and they are a hundred or 200, my policemen will not be looking at them. They will reply back in self-defence. The number I kill is immaterial because a policeman is also a human being" he said.

''I Bought My Burial Vault 4 Years Ago'' – Fashola

Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday while inspecting a proposed cemetery site for both Muslims and Christians in the state, stunned his crowd when he announced that he bought a vault where he will be buried four years ago.
The proposed cemetery is located along Lekki Epe Expressway, Lagos. Fashola told journalists after inspecting the site that death is a necessary end that will come when it will come, saying there is the need for people to prepare for it.
According to him:
“We are here to inspect a cemetery, we often don’t like to talk about, but there is a need for it because the population continues to expand and the Lekki sub-region is growing very fast.
If you look at it, the Ikoyi Cemetery, the Abari and all of that are more than 100 years old and they were built by colonialists and left behind for us and when you look at the way they have also managed them, many families cannot even visit the vaults where their loved ones are resting.
We have this strategic partnership now with the private sector and they are going to deliver a cemetery like no other. They will manage it and make the cost also competitive. There will be high, medium and low density vaults for people who really want to make a statement at their exit.
It is true of life that everyone who comes must go. So as we are building hospital to receive new born babies, schools to teach them survival skills in life and start businesses, we must also plan for the end and this may sound odd as some people don’t want to discuss it.
I have bought my own vault. It surprises people I paid for it about four years ago. I always tell people if you come here to life, you must plan to go. Those who don’t want to go shouldn't come,” he stated.
